MAIL,
NEWS,
|
From a user's perspective, mail and news are very similar mediums. They both enable you to communicate with people around the world by sending messages over the Net. These messages have compatible formats and you can send mail messages to news groups, news group messages to mailboxes, and, if you have powerful software such as Pine, you can send a message to news groups and mailboxes at the same time. You can think of mail and news as being essentially the same, with news usually considered public and mail usually considered private. This page includes information that is relevant to:

- News has a long history of Net legends, both people and stories. One of my favorite legends is Archimedes Plutonium, who can be found in alt.sci.physics.plutonium. I don't read Archimedes, aka Ludwig, that often but when I do I usually get a chuckle out of him.
