The Matrix, Inception, and
You Can not  See Everything
(no spoilers)

🚧This article is a work in progress.

Sometime in 2026-September, I saw this trailer:1

And thought “Wow, I want to see that!” I’d never heard of Nathan Fielder and hadn’t paid much attention to Elizabeth Holmes, but this weird hypnotic trailer convinced me I wanted to see it. I love seeing a movie without knowing anything about it and resisted learning much about it. But, I was so curious about Nathan Fielder that I read wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan_Fielder and learned that the Telluride Film Festival secret-screening audience was asked not to talk about it and not to spoil it for others. So, on opening day (2026-October-152), I went to a post office and mailed my taxes and then, as a reward for finally3 doing my taxes, went to You Can See Everything in a packed theater. Because I want you to see it cold like I did, I’m not going to say anything about it other than:

  1. If you liked The Matrix, Inception, or anything that messes with your mind🤯 about “What is real,”4 go see it.
  2. See it ASAP without learning anything about it.

This movie has renewed my enthusiasm for movies and is even affecting my thoughts about where to live. I’m always wondering where I might move and this reminded me that I want to live in a film town, maybe even New York City (again!).
