The Filtering Mail FAQ describes general filtering strategies and gives instructions for using procmail, mailagent, and the Elm filter program to filter mailing list messages into separate folders. Magellan reviews this FAQ and gives it a four-star rating (the highest rating).

Single-page format is useful for printing and using your Web browser to do full text searching. The disadvantage of this format is that it can take a long time to download the whole FAQ.        

 

Multiple-page format presents a hypertext index of the FAQ and enables you to easily jump to the part of the FAQ you're interested in. The disadvantage of this format is that jumping through the pages of the FAQ can break up your reading flow.
